PLAYMOBIL LOW COST 2.0 (I)

Reconozco que tenemos el blog bastante olvidado en estos días. Hay tiempo para todo, pero a veces falta tiempo para cosas que quisiéramos hacer. El verano no ha sido estéril en cuanto a proyectos, pero otra cosa es materializarlo en entradas interesantes. Ya el año pasado hicimos algún ensayo de lo que se podía hacer con poco dinero y un poco de interés. Lo podéis comprobar en nuestra entrada PLAYMOBIL LOW COST.

Ahora el reto ha sido doble, por un lado buscar materiales más manejables y por otro que su coste sea ridículo. Cosa nada fácil. Nosotros no hemos inventado nada. Todo está en la red. Ya habíamos puesto en alguna entrada nuestra admiración por los belenistas, verdaderos maestros del arte del diorama.

Teníamos un puente, un río y unas montañas fabricadas con maderas de descarte, un poco de masilla y pintura de baratillo.

Ahora nos enfrentamos al poliestireno extruido, también conocido por styrofoam. Se trata de un material muy barato, cuyo uso principal es como aislante térmico y que se lleva utilizando por los belenistas para la construcción de edificios y también en la elaboración de decorados para acuarios. El material en cuestión se puede adquirir en grandes superficies dedicadas al bricolaje y tiene un coste de aproximadamente 4 euros para una superficie de 120X60X4 centímetros.

El proceso es sencillo, se necesitan los siguientes materiales:

1. Planchas de poliestireno extruido.

2. Cutter. Más de uno. ¡Ojo! Esta actividad debe realizarse acompañado por un adulto en cualquier caso, ya que es peligrosa y puede ocasionar lesiones graves (un cutter es una herramienta muy peligrosa).

3. Cola blanca. Merece la pena comprar un bote de un tamaño grande. Es importante ser generoso.

4. Palillos o brochetas de bambú. Para reforzar las uniones de las piezas que tenemos que pegar.

5. Pintura acrílica. Un descubrimiento. Pintura al agua de secado rápido. La hay en abundancia en cualquier bazar de baratillo.

6. Pinceles. Nada del otro mundo, que sirvan para dar la cola y pintar las piezas.

Nosotros hemos comprado tres planchas. La primera para cambiar nuestro puente y hacer algunas bases, que básicamente han servido para ir aprendiendo el proceso de fabricación. Las otras dos las hemos utilizado en hacer unas rocas para nuestros dioramas.

El proceso, como ya hemos dicho es fácil. Os indicamos algunos pasos que creemos os ayudaran:

1. Pensar y dibujar aquello que queremos hacer.

2. Anotar medidas y hacer plantillas.

3. Cortar las piezas. Este material se corta fácilmente, tened la precaución de cortar sobre un material que no se pueda dañar. Hemos intentado mantener la forma del puente, pero haciendolo un poco más playmobil, inspirandonos en el modelo de video de los nuevos caballeros 2014.

4. Rebajar y crear las formas. Este proceso es el más laborioso. Se trata de rebajar el material, con el cutter. Hay un montón de tutoriales en el YouTube.

5. Pegar. Mucha cola, unos buenos refuerzos de palillos de bambú y un poco de paciencia para que seque bien.

6. Pintar. Nosotros hemos intentado sacar los colores a mano. No lo hemos conseguido, pero estamos muy satisfechos con los resultados obtenidos. De todas formas, si queréis el color exacto, podéis ir con una muestra a una tienda de pinturas y os darán una lata de ¼ de litro por aproximadamente 8 euros.

7. Jugar. Es un material 100% jugable. Resistente al agua y al sol. De lo mejor que hemos tenido entre las manos últimamente.

Los resultados hablan por sí solos. No hay manera más barata de hacer "fondo de armario" para dioramas. Las posibilidades son inmensas: Un fuerte Vauban, la gran muralla china, rocas, acantilados, muelles, puertos, templos… El límite está en el espacio que tengáis disponible para colocarlos.

PLAYMOBIL LOW COST 2.0 (I)

I recognize that we have quite forgotten our blog these days. There is time for everything, but sometimes there is no time for things we want to do. Summer has not been barren of projects but nothing is materializing in interesting posts. Last year we did a test of what could be done with little money and a bit of interest, that you can see in our "PLAYMOBIL LOW COST" post.

Now it has become a double challenge, first browse more manageable by other materials and that its cost is ridiculous. Sew easy. We have not invented anything. Everything is on the web.

We had already put in some post our admiration for Nativity scene makers, true masters of the art of diorama. We had a bridge, a river and a mountain made of discarded wood, a little putty and paint of a dime store. 
Now we face the extruded polystyrene, also known as styrofoam. It is a very cheap material, whose main use is as a thermal insulator and which is carried by using Nativity scene makers for construction of buildings and also in developing decorated aquarium. The material can be purchased in home depot areas and it costs about 4 euros for an area of 120X60X4 inches.

The process is simple, the following materials are needed:

1. Extruded polystyrene plates.

2. Cutter. More than one. Watch out! This activity should be done with an adult in any case, because it is dangerous and can cause serious injuries (a cutter is a very dangerous tool).

3. Whiteglue. Worth it to buy a bottle of a large size. It is important to be generous.

4. Sticks or bamboo skewers. To reinforce the joints of the pieces that have to glue.

5. Acrylic paint. A discovery. Waterborne paint fast drying. There are in abundance at any dime store.

6. Brushes. Nothing fancy, it serves to glue and paint the pieces.

We have bought three plates. The first one to change our bridge and do some rocks baseplates, which have basically served to be learning the manufacturing process. The other two to be used as a big rock to make our dioramas.

The process, as we have said is easy. Here are a few things we think will help you:

1. Think and draw what you want to do.

2. Note measurements and make templates. 

3. Cut the pieces. This material is easily cut, be careful to cut on a material that can not be damaged. We have tried to keep the shape of the bridge, but doing a little playmobil, inspired by the model of video of the new knights 2014.

4. Create forms. This process is more laborious. This is to lower the material with the cutter. There are plenty of tutorials on YouTube.

5. Paste it. Many glue, good reinforcements bamboo sticks and a little patience to dry.

6. Paint it. We have tried to get the colors by handmade but we did not got it, but we're very pleased with the results. Anyway, if you want the exact color, you can go with a sample to a paint store and give you a can of ¼ liter for about 8 euros.

7. To play. Material is 100% playable. Resistant to water and sun. From the best we have had in his hands lately.

The results speak for themselves. there is not more inexpensive way to make "basic wardrobe" for  your dioramas. The possibilities are immense: a Vauban fort, the great Chinese wall, rocks, cliffs, piers, harbors, temples ... The limit is space that you have available to place.
