PLAYMOBIL CUSTOM THE LEWIS & CLARK EXPEDITION

Within the expeditions of exploration of the American West Frontier, the most famous could be the Lewis and Clark one of 1804. It is a crazy thing, something like a handful of Napoleonic soldiers in the middle of the Northwest frontier for two years. Can there be a better plan to customize? The period of the Napoleonic wars is a period that we did not "want" to deal with. Too much work, too many missing pieces, too big for us... but in this case, the effort is small and with a very big reward.

Dentro de las expediciones de exploración del Oeste americano, la más famosa podría ser la de Lewis y Clark de 1804. Que es una cosa loca, algo así como un puñado de soldados napoleónicos en medio del Oeste durante dos años. ¿Puede haber mejor plan para personalizar? El periodo de las guerras napoléonicas es un periodo que no “queríamos” tratar. Demasiado trabajo, demasiadas piezas que faltan, demasiado grande para nosotros... pero en este caso el esfuerzo es pequeño y la recompensa muy grande.

After the purchase of Louisiana by the United States to France in 1803, an expedition was raised that tried to arrive from the east coast to the west coast of the continent using navigable rivers. After many adventures, they reached the West Coast at the end of 1805 where they spent the winter and from where they began their return to the starting point.

Tras la compra de Lousiana por parte de los Estados Unidos a Francia en 1803, se planteó un expedición que trataba de llegar desde la coste este a la costa oeste del continente utilizando los ríos navegables. Tras múltiples aventuras alcanzaron la costa oeste a finales de 1805 donde pasaron el invierno y  desde donde comenzaron su regreso al punto de partida.

Toussaint Charbonneau, French Canadian trapper; he served as a interpreter and often as an expedition cooker. Trampero franco canadiense; sirvió como traductor y a menudo de cocinero de la expedición.

Captain Meriwether Lewis, private secretary to President Thomas Jefferson and leader of the expedition. Secretario privado del presidente Thomas Jefferson y líder de la expedición.

Sacagawea, wife of Charbonneau; She translated Shoshone for Charbonneau and was a highly valued member of the expedition as an interpreter. Esposa de Charbonneau; traducía Shoshone para Charbonneau y era un miembro muy valorado de la expedición como interprete.

Lieutenant William Clark, he shared the leadership of the expedition, although he was second in the line of command. Compartió la jefatura de la expedición, a pesar que era el segundo en la línea de mando. 

And we have not forgotten about York, the black slave servant of Clark who accompanied them throughout the expedition.  Y tampoco nos hemos olvidado de York, el esclavo negro sirviente de Clark que les acompañó durante toda la expedición.

Finally, a small scene of what could be one of the camps on the banks of some of the navigable rivers that they passed through. I know we did not make the boat, it may be another time.

PLAYMOBIL CUSTOM NORTHWEST FRONTIER

The colonial expansion in North America has not been one of our most worked subjects in the blog. Almost all the figures that we have been made have been custom figures that we got in the flea market. Most of the pieces that Playmobil has available are related to the Western theme, but it must be recognized that many of the pieces can be used in other themes. The palisades of its forts (in its three versions) have been for us a resource for constructions and dioramas: from the Romans to the pirates, through the Vikings, the Gauls ... Another interesting contribution has been that of the wild animals: bison, vultures, bears, moose ... great contributions to improve other issues such as prehistory. Without forgetting the horses that have given us so much game in all their versions. We have no complaint.

La expasión colonial en Norteamérica no ha sido uno de nuestros temas más trabajados en el blog. Casi todas las figuras que hemos ido consiguiendo han sido personalizaciones de figuras de mercadillo. La mayoría de las piezas que Playmobil tiene disponibles tienen relación con el Western, pero hay que reconocer que muchas de las piezas se pueden utilizar en otras temáticas. Las empalizadas de sus fuertes (en sus tres versiones) han sido para nosotros un bálsamo para construcciones y escenarios: desde los romanos hasta los piratas, pasando por los vikingos, los galos… Otra contribución interesante ha sido la de los animales: bisontes, buitres, osos, alces… estupenda aportación para mejorar otras temáticas, como la de la prehistoria. Sin olvidar a los caballos que tanto juego nos han dado en todas sus versiones. No tenemos queja.

But something is missing ... and that is the difficulty of bringing those Indians to the period before the Western, as the Seven Years War or the arrival of the first settlers. My wish would be to see "a solution" for the Mohawk hair in the next few years ... in the monk's tonsure style. I believe it is possible.

Pero algo teníamos que echar en falta… y es que la dificultad de llevar esos indios al periodo anterior al Western, como La Guerra de los Siete Años o la llegada de los primeros colonos. Mi deseo sería ver “una solución” para la cabellera Mohawk en los próximos años… tipo la tonsura del monje. Imposible no es.

While that arrives, or not, we have used some resources to pay tribute to the explorers of the American Northwest. A mixture of tomahawk, muskets, and tricorns in equal parts. We reach this point when many others have passed, and we dedicate our review to them.

Mientras eso llega, o no, hemos aprovechado algunos recursos para dar un homenaje a los exploradores del Noroeste americano. Una mezcla de tomahawk, mosquetes y tricornios a partes iguales. Llegamos a este punto cuando muchos otros han pasado, y a ellos les dedicamos nuestra revisión.

PLAYMOBIL CUSTOM – PLAYMONEP

Teníamos una deuda pendiente con Neperiano, al que consideramos un “correligionario” nuestro y que tantas ideas nos ha dado con sus fotos y dioramas. Hemos intentado bajar a su terreno, internándonos en los territorios inexplorados de las montañas del lejano noroeste, donde cazan sus tramperos y viven los Neyhutes. Allí hemos encontrado esta escena que no tiene más intención que homenajear su trabajo, que tanto respetamos. Con todo nuestro afecto, aquí la compartimos con el resto de amigos del blog.  Esperamos que os guste.

TRAMPEROS / PLAYMOBIL TRAPPERS

Tributo a las referencias 3397 y 3394. Un par de tramperos vuelven de sus lugares de caza cargados de pieles y aceite de castor.  Las nuevas mulas de Playmobil (5246) son simplemente imprescindibles.

 

Tribute to the boxes 3397 and 3394. A couple of trappers are returning from their hunting places and fully loaded of furs and castor oil. The new Playmobil mules (5246) are simply essential.

PERSONALIZACIONES DE NOVIEMBRE (III)

Nos encantan los nuevos caballos de Playmobil. Hace unos días no nos pudimos resistir y pujamos por este conjunto en eBay. Tuvimos suerte y solo pagamos 1,99 euros.

Con algunos detalles más lo hemos convertido en un explorador del 7º de caballería.

Aquí os dejamos de algunas otras imágenes usando el mismo tema. Empezamos haciendo un decorado con un par de rocas del 3269 y añadimos algunas plantas para darle un toque más realista. Después un poco de imaginación…

Nuestros enanos siguen buscando una mina para fundar su ciudad. ¿Será esta?

NOVEMBER CUSTOMS (III)

We love new Playmobil horses. A few days ago, we could not resist and we bid on an  eBay auction. We were lucky and we only paid 1.99 euros. With some more details we have become it into a 7th Cavalry scout.

Here you have some other images using the same theme. We started making a scenery with a couple of rocks (Playmobil 3269) then we add few plants to give a more realistic touch. Then we put a bit of imagination ...

Our dwarves are still looking a mine to establish their kingdom. Will it be this?

PERSONALIZACIONES DE NOVIEMBRE

Aquí os presentamos algunos de nuestros nuevos amigos. Hemos utilizado el mismo escenario para ir probando el resultado. Creo que esta vez habría sido mejor poner algo más de vegetación de fondo para que tuviera una sensación de profundidad mayor. La luz también debe ser mejorada. No obstante, esta cueva puede dar mucho juego…

Puede funcionar muy bien como refugio para esta partida de Siouxs, antes de llegar a la caja donde podrán descansar con toda su tribu. Los nuevos indios de Playmobil le han dado un nuevo aire a nuestro campamento.

O este burrillo, en busca de un amo. La verdad es que no creo que podamos tener la nueva mina (Playmobil 5246), pero tiene algunas piezas fantásticas. Ya estamos buscando la silla para poder cargarlo.

Hace tiempo que queríamos ampliar nuestra tropa para el 3666 con algo un poco diferente, un poco más duro.

Este trío de piratas ha encontrado el sitio perfecto para enterrar su arcón con el producto de sus tropelías. En la próxima entrada veremos alguno de ellos gastando su botín.

Siempre hay sitio para un vikingo y un heraldo en nuestras cajas.

Este normando también ha encontrado la cueva.

Por último, también ha pasado por allí este “casaca roja”, paseando con su flamante  caballo.

  

NOVEMBER CUSTOMS

Here we introduce to you some of our new friends. We used the same stage in order to test the results. I believe that this time we might have been put some more background vegetation to have a greater sense of depth. The light should also be improved. However, this cave can give much game...

It can work very well as a refuge for these Sioux warriors, before they come to the box where they can relax with his tribe. The new Playmobil Indians have given new life to our camp.

Or this donkey, looking for a master. The fact is I do not think we can get the new gold mine (Playmobil 5246), but it has some fantastic pieces. We're looking for the saddle to load.

Some time ago we wanted to expand our troop 3666 with something a little different, a little bit heavier.

This pirate clan has found the perfect place to bury their chest with the product of their outrages. In the next post we will see some of them spending their loot.
