ATALAYA VIKINGA

¡Odin!
VIKING WATCHTOWER
With great joy of my sons and some concern of my wife for the space in their room, our project takes shape. We started with a 3269 mountain (red dragon castle). Later we have received some 3023 fort pieces purchased at EBAY  and we have begun to test combinations. As we noticed in older monthly fleamarket post we had planned to join pieces of the 3151, 3269 and 3023 to make a Viking fortification and expand our Nordic settlement. Last year we incorporated a second hand RANDAL FORT which was wonderful to improve our Viking buildings, of which we test our summer posts dedicated to Viking houses.
We never had a RENO FORT and we didn´t realize that we can´t connect all the pieces between them. The 15 and 6 inches walls can´t join between them. You must use joints 3 inches walls to make the connections. This is quite problematic to make the fence surrounding the tower.
The corner joints are very useful for solving small problem with rocks and allow the base to incorporate a wooden structure that gives continuity to the building.
The construction is quite simple and the result seems fantastic. We still have to solve some problems to give it more stability to attached the tower to the rock (there is no connectors for the base).
Another problem is how to access to the tower. The entrance to the FORT RENO is not useful for Viking items. Well, we have some ideas and we are going to make a door, but we need to get more pieces ...
Playmobil had not planned finish parts of the walls of the fort palisades like the Viking House palisade (3151). I think they must think in a building systems homogenization. Would not be bad even make some masterpieces.
Now the arrive of the new western fort (2012) is a new start. The fence with pointed slats is much more realistic, but the openings for the guns limited their use, I think. Another problem seems to be the trend to make hollow pieces, I guess by the savings in production costs.  It will be not until next summer to see the fist boxes and We´ll make an opinion.
Meanwhile we have time to continue our adventures… Odin!

FISHING DAY
Fishing was a daily activity in the Vikings life. The sea provided them with much of their feed and they perform those tasks was normal, in both their major and minor boats depending on the type of animals that they fished. From whales and dolphins to small fish collected in nets. Everything was worth to feed the village. This Playmobil customization evokes those days, when they penetrate through the mist of the fjord in search of fish. The Viking boat (Playmobil 3156) is one of my favorite references, a reflection of an era of great creativity.

JUNE FLEA MARKET (II)
This month has been held in Madrid one Playmobil Fair. I think it had a couple of years without celebrating. This time was dedicated to the cinema. They have exhibited many dioramas sure you can be admired in any of the forums Playmobil. The first thing that comes to mind when I see the dioramas is the amount of money and time employed to create them. Jokingly I commented, on leaving the show on Saturday, which  i think that it would be more profitable to rob the Fair that a bank office. All dioramas had merit, but I loved Game of Thrones, Pirates of the Caribbean and Ben Hur.
We went with hope to buy something different and we appreciate the presence of new dealers. Finally we bought some more figures to continue making customizations and some other whim. Special mention to the store DRPAVITO (EBAY), where we bought the tournament structure to customize and that you will present in a forthcoming post.
It is the last flea market we go until September. Thankfully we have the Playmobil Direct Service.

PLAYMOBIL DE LA SEMANA 2013 (22 DE 52)

VIKINGA / VICKING WOMAN

Women have little presence in the historical series of Playmobil. It usually appears one or  two in a box. It is normal because they are series that are focused more to male children. The opposite occurs in the series focused on girls and in which the male figures are minority. We must thank to Playmobil you go including increasingly female figures. A good example is the new Indian woman figures or women in Egypt series. In this case, we have taken the body of a woman of the DS Roman family (Playmobil 7922), we have changed her hair and we have put her a cape.

Another tribute to the Playmobil medieval series. Lion Knights never had a castle theirself. We could see them in some references as special (4583) or in a castle (3030). Even the king was welcomed in an advent calendar (4153) and now he has to compete with one of the new Playmobil Figures Series 4 (5284). Also they were part of one of our customizations in 2011. We have opened our home to them to stay on it and form a small fiefdom inside our kingdom. They must defend it of the greed of other knights...

PLAYMOBIL DE LA SEMANA 2013 (20 DE 52)

GUERRERO PERRO (SIOUX)
WOLF CLAN SOUX WARRIOR
The more I see the more I like the Playmobil Indians. This reference is clearly inspired by their number 3874 (Wolf clan hunters). This box includes accessories of great quality, very far from the usual plume. Only we used a new body with some more colorful. Without any merit, but we'd love to see him in action.

FLEA MARKET OF JUNE
There was very little movement in the flea market this month. We arrived early and on other occasions there was a big queues at the shops.  It is starting to show some burnout of some shops, they always have the same things, more and more expensive, so you could look, not to buy, them without any problems. Anyway it was worth going for a walk.
