PLAYMOBIL CUSTOM GREEK GODS (I)

One of the most anticipated Playmobil novelties in 2018 are the new four Greek gods that will go on sale next summer. Surely they "go through the roof" right away. We have not been able to wait and we have been working on our version since last fall. I tell you that they have suffered many "mutations" since the beginning and now it seems that they are already taking shape.

Una de las novedades de Playmobil más esperadas en 2018 son los cuatro dioses griegos que saldrán a la venta este verano. Seguro que se “ponen por las nubes” enseguida. Nosotros no hemos podido esperar y llevamos trabajando en nuestra versión desde el otoño pasado. Ya os digo que han sufrido muchas “mutaciones” desde el inicio y ahora parece que ya van tomando cuerpo.

We have made 15 customized figures (some of them have several figures in parallel), which we present in two runs: male and female. They are figures most to diorama or photography than to play. We have enjoyed them very much and we hope you like them too.

Hemos hecho como 15 personalizaciones (algunas con varias figuras en paralelo), que os presentamos en dos tandas: la masculina y la femenina. No son figuras que se presten mucho al juego, aunque sí al diorama. Los hemos disfrutado mucho y esperamos que también os gusten a vosotros.

Here we introduce to you Hermes, Apollo, Hades, Zeus, Poseidon, Ares,  Hephaestus and Dionysus.

Aquí os presentamos a Hermes, Apolo, Hades, Zeus,  Poseidón, Ares, Hefesto y Dionisio. 

A few key pieces to achieve this have been those of the hoplite of the series 11, especially for the muscled naked torsos and the helmet. We will complete some of the pieces that will come with the originals and we hope find at the DS.

Unas  piezas claves para conseguirlo han sido las del hoplita de la serie 11, sobre todo para los torsos desnudos musculados y el casco. Aunque nos vendrán bien para completarlos alguna de las piezas que saldrán con los originales y que esperamos poder conseguir a través del DS.

We have done many photography tests in these months. But we have not managed to be fully satisfied with them. We share them so that you judge and give us your opinion.

Hemos hecho muchas pruebas de fotografía en estos meses. Pero no hemos conseguido quedar plenamente satisfechos con ellas. Las compartimos para que juzguéis y nos deis vuestra opinión.

PLAYMOBIL CUSTOM GALLIC WAR CHARIOT

Our Gauls or Germanic warriors have been growing and modifying little by little during all this time. Reviewing figures is one of the tasks that we enjoy the most. We have been modifying some, adding the naked torso and the muscled arms, taking advantage of the great figure of the hoplite of the series 11. We have also added some oval shields with stickers of Playstickers. But all that will be treated in another post with a group photo.

Nuestros galos o germánicos han ido creciendo y modificándose poco a poco durante todo este tiempo. Revisar figuras es una de las tareas que más nos divierte. Hemos estado modificando algunas,  añadiendo el torso descubierto y los brazos musculados, aprovechando la estupenda figura del hoplita de la serie 11. También hemos añadido algún escudo oval con pegatinas de Playstickers. Pero todo eso será tratado en otra entrada posterior con foto de grupo.

Now we present our Celtic (Germanic or Gallic) cart that we wanted to incorporate into our collection. The most characteristic cart of this type has a shape that could only be achieved by 3D printing at the moment. We have tried to do with original pieces, but also looking for a model that could have some historical rigor.

Ahora os presentamos nuestro carro celta (germánico o galo) que queríamos incorporar a nuestra colección. El carro más característico de este tipo tiene una forma que únicamente sería posible conseguir mediante impresión 3D actualmente. Lo hemos intentado hacer con piezas originales, pero también buscando algún modelo que pudiera tener algo de rigor histórico.

We are not the first ones, because although he did not present it as such, VADIM5'S made a great version for his barbarian troops, which we rescued from the archives of the PCC.

No somos los primeros, pues aunque no lo presentó como tal, VADIM5´S realizó una estupenda versión para sus tropas bárbaras, que rescatamos de los archivos del PCC.

The Egyptian chariot (6487) is enough to pass, and with little change, a very worthy effect is achieved, in our opinion. What do you think?

Al final, el carro egipcio (6487) da bastante bien el pego y, sin apenas modificaciones, se consigue un efecto muy digno, en nuestra opinión. ¿Qué os parece?

PLAYMOBIL CUSTOM 1060 NORMAN MEDIEVAL SHIP

We introduce to you an old project that we finalized last summer: our Norman ship. You know, those who follow the blog, that the next logical step to follow in our collection of Normans was to do something related to their presence in Italy and the Middle East during the XI Century. Not in vain, they were the first crusader contingent, which, under the command of Bohemond of Taranto, took part in the conquest and founding of the first Christian kingdom of Antioch. 

El barco que os presentamos es un proyecto viejo que finalizamos el verano pasado. Ya sabéis, los que seguís el blog, que un paso natural en nuestra colección de normandos era hacer alguna cosa relacionada con su presencia en Italia y Oriente Próximo durante el siglo XI. No en vano, fueron el primer contingente cruzado, que al mando de Bohemundo de Tarento, tomó parte en la conquista y fundación del primer reino cristiano de Antioquía.

When we thought of a medieval cargo ship, we took as model to follow the boat model of the island of Gotland that we enclose. We wanted to do something different from the classic Cog ship. Unlike the Viking ships, the medieval Christian ships were more designed for transport. They are therefore of greater draft although of worse maneuverability than the Viking ships.

Cuando pensamos en un barco medieval de carga, tomamos como modelo a seguir el modelo de barco de la isla de Gotland que os adjuntamos. Queríamos hacer algo diferente al clásico Cog o Coca. A diferencia de los barcos vikingos, los barcos medievales cristianos estaban más pensados para el transporte. Son, por tanto, de mayor calado aunque de peor maniobrabilidad que los barcos vikingos.

When we started the project, my little son impose one condition on me, it had to be totally reversible, that is, if he did not like the boat I would have to go back to what he was originally like. It was an important challenge, so we got down to work with that premise. The boat is the reference 5275 (Noah´s ark), we needed the boat in brown and so not having to paint it.

Cuando empezamos el proyecto, mi hijo pequeño me puso una condición, tenía que ser totalmente reversible, es decir, si no le gustaba el barco utilizado tendría que volver a ser como era originalmente. Era un reto importante, así que nos pusimos manos a la obra con esa premisa. El barco es la referencia 5275  (arca de Noé), que necesitábamos con el casco en marrón para así no tener que pintarlo.

Then there was the subject of the ship deck. We needed a removable deck, in addition to plastic or similar, that could fit the necessary accessories, easy to work and also cheap. You already know our liking for the "low cost", so we went to the IKEA, which has a plastic tray at 1.99 euro (SMULA), and that is the basis of our ship deck. We made a cardboard template first and then on it we cut the plastic sheet, leaving the holes to access traps and lower ship deck.

Luego estaba el tema de la cubierta. Necesitábamos una cubierta de quita y pon, además de plástico o similar, que pudiese encajar los accesorios necesarios, fácil de trabajar y además barata. Ya sabéis nuestra afición por el “low cost”, así que nos fuimos al IKEA, que tiene una bandeja de plástico a 1,99 euros (SMULA), y que es la base de nuestra cubierta. Hicimos una plantilla de cartón primero y luego sobre ella cortamos la plancha de plástico, dejando los huecos para poder acceder a trampillas y cubierta inferior.

The additions are all pieces of the new Roman ship (5390), from which you can find a great review on PlaymoGalicia. We have used the ship deck (which we have sectioned to take advantage of as much as possible) and we have incorporated many of the pieces that it carries (trapdoor, mast, handrails ...). The pieces that form the ship deck are joined with nuts and painted (Montana 94). The ship sail is of the reference 4424 and is painted with matt white spray. The cross of the top of the mast is of the reference 5655. As a detail there are the  connectors for the shields for which we have used a system that we like a lot and allows to have the shields hooked vertically. The pennant is foamy, painted with marker.

Los añadidos son todos del nuevo barco romano (5390), de la que podéis encontrar una estupenda reseña en PlaymoGalicia. Hemos utilizado la cubierta (que hemos seccionado para aprovechar al máximo posible) y hemos incorporado muchos de las piezas que lleva (trampilla, mástil, barandillas…). Las piezas que forman la cubierta están unidas con unas tuercas y pintadas (Montana 94). La vela es de la referencia 4424 y está pintada con spray blanco mate. La cruz de remate del mástil es de la referencia 5655. Como detalle están los enganches para los escudos para los que hemos utilizado un sistema que nos gusta mucho y permite tener los escudos enganchados verticalmente. El banderín es GOMAEVA blanca pintada con rotulador.

Finally, there are the figures. We have done some experiments like the mounted figure or the painted short bodies and necks, taking advantage of the fact that we had some paint and some putty to spend.

Por último, están las figuras. Hemos hecho algunos experimentos como la figura montada o los cuerpos cortos y cuellos pintados, aprovechando que nos quedaba pintura y algo de masilla. 

A little movie... 1060 A.C. Our Normans have started their trip to Sicily by sea, as the vanguard of  the Crusader army. They carry everything necessary for their conquests on this ship. 

Una pequeña película... Año 1060. Nuestros normandos han tomado el camino de Sicilia por mar, como vanguardia de lo que serán las cruzadas. Llevan todo lo necesario para sus conquistas en este barco. 

We passed the test, so we can invade Sicily and the best thing is that my son does not want this ship will be a Noah´s ark anymore. We hope you like it.

Reto conseguido, ya podemos invadir Sicilia y lo mejor es que mi hijo ya no quiere que este barco vuelva ser un arca de Noé nunca más. Esperamos que os guste.
