PLAYMOBIL CUSTOM – DARK LORDS

Llevamos ya un tiempo trabajando en ampliar nuestro mundo fantástico, pero no encontramos suficientes piezas con las que trabajar. Últimamente han empezado a abundar en los mercadillos unos guerreros ninja en negro con el pecho de cota de malla. Las piezas nos resultaban útiles para nuestras personalizaciones, así que nos hicimos con varios. Al desmontarlos, nos dimos cuenta de que la cabeza era negra y se había pintado sobre ella. Pensamos que una cabeza negra sin cara podría resultar interesante para hacer algún personaje maligno. Lo primero que se nos vino a la cabeza fueron los jinetes negros de El Señor de los Anillos.

Además de las cabezas, también teníamos sobrante de piezas en bronce y plata envejecido de restos de figuras y que no sabíamos muy bien qué hacer con ellas. Con todo eso y algunos adornos más montamos nuestros propios jinetes espectrales.

Os los presentamos surgiendo de entre la bruma. Hemos hecho tres figuras a caballo, para comandar nuestra tropa de orcos Playmobil personalizada y una a pie, que irá montada en un dragón. 

No van a dejar hombre, enano o elfo con cabeza…

We have spent time working on expanding our fantasy world, but did not find enough pieces to work with. In recent times it was begun to abound in the markets some ninja warriors in black with a chainmail chest. The pieces proved useful for our customizations us, so we bought several. When we was dismantling them, we realized that the head was black with a factory painted on it. We think that a black head with no face could be interesting to do some evil character. The first thing that came to mind was the Black Riders of The Lord of the Rings.

In addition to the head, also we had leftover pieces in bronze and aged silver remains of our job lots. With all that and some more ornaments assemble our own spectral dark riders.

We introduce them to you, emerging from the mist. We have made three mounted figures, to command our army of Playmobil orcs and one more on foot, which will mount on a dragon. They will not leave man, dwarf or elf alive...

PLAYMOBIL CUSTOM – VIKING AXES

Miguel, uno de nuestros lectores, nos hizo llegar amablemente unas cuantas piezas que había personalizado sobre el tema vikingo hace unos días. En concreto, dos cascos y cinco hachas. Además de agradecerle su contribución y colaboración, no podíamos pasar sin compartirlas con todos vosotros. Las piezas son fantásticas. Lo mejor, como ya le comentamos, es ese efecto de media circunferencia que ha conseguido en la parte inferior. Los cascos nos han parecido muy interesantes tanto para el tema vikingo como bárbaro.

Os dejamos una instantánea de un guerrero perfectamente pertrechado. Unas piezas estupendas que esperamos animen a Miguel a seguir ampliando su armero. ¡GRACIAS MIGUEL!

Few days ago, Miguel, one of our readers, kindly sent to us few pieces that he had customized on the Viking theme. Specifically, two helmets and five axes. In addition to thank him for his contribution and collaboration, we could not pass without sharing it with you all. The pieces are fantastic. The best of all, as we already discussed with him, is that circumference effect at the bottom. The helmets are very interesting for both the Viking theme as Barbarians.

We leave you a snapshot of a perfectly girt warrior. Some great pieces that we hope will encourage Miguel to further expand its gunsmith. THANKS MIGUEL!

PLAYMOBIL CUSTOM - ÆTHELFLÆD WARLORD WOMAN

Ethelfleda, Señora de los mercios.  Primera hija de Alfredo el Grande,  desposada con Ethelredo II, Ealdorman (Conde o Señor) de Mercia. Fue una de las piezas claves en la consolidación de la Inglaterra sajona durante el siglo X, iniciada por su padre.  Æthelflæd después de la muerte de su esposo,  gobernó Mercia hasta 918, año en que murió. Durante su reinado se dedicó principalmente a la construcción de fortificaciones, emprendiendo varias expediciones militares.

Fue enterrada en la iglesia de San Pedro (ahora, convento de San Osvaldo), de Gloucester, ciudad que había reconstruido a partir de las ruinas romanas.

Æthelflæd, Lady of the Mercians. First daughter of Alfred the Great, married to Ethelred II, Ealdorman (Count or Lord) of Mercia. She was one of the keys pieces in the consolidation of Saxon England during the tenth century, that his father begun. 
Æthelflæd, after the death of her husband, ruled Mercia until 918, when she died. During her reign she was mainly devoted to the construction of fortifications and she undertook several military expeditions.

She was buried in the St Oswald's Priory, of Gloucester, which it had reconstructed from the Roman ruins.

Hasta aquí el personaje real. También hemos llegado a ella a través de la serie de novelas de Bernard Cornwell (vikingos, sajones y normandos ). Su faceta de guerrera fue captada estupendamente en esta ilustración de Angus Mcbride, que tanto nos inspira con sus dibujos y que ya habíamos colgado en nuestra entrada sobre los sajones.

Her role as warlord woman was captured beautifully in this illustration of Angus Mcbride, whom inspires us with his drawings and had already posted on the Saxons theme.

Esta entrada no habría sido posible sin la inspiración de Mike de Warhorse Miniatures. Su trabajo con las cotas de malla nos dio la idea de recrear un casco con la cota incorporada. Hemos intentando hacerlo con piezas originales de Playmobil. Lo primero que hemos tenido que solucionar es facilitar el giro de la cabeza 360 grados, quitando el tope que tiene la figura en el cuello. Luego hemos hecho dos orificios a la altura de los ojos para que coincidan con el casco. También hemos tenido que pintar los ojos, ya que la cabeza está del revés. Por último hemos añadido cinta de carrocero para tapar la parte de la cota que no cubre la cabeza y la hemos pintado con rotulador plateado.

This post has not been possible without the inspiration of Mike of Warhorse Miniatures. His work with the chainmail gave us the idea of recreating this helmet. We have tried to do it with original pieces of Playmobil. The first thing we had to solve is to facilitate the rotation of the head 360 degrees, removing the cap that has the figure in the neck. Then we made two holes to eye level to match the hull. Also we had to paint the eyes, as the head is upside down. Finally we added masking tape to cover the portion of the head that it does not cover and we painted it with a silver marker. 

No está para ir a un museo, pero a nosotros nos sirve. Aquí está Ethelfleda, Señora de los Mercios, preparada para el combate. Esperamos que os guste.

Seguimos adelante con el proyecto. Aún falta afinar la pieza de entrada para que no sea necesario ningún ajuste. Ya sabemos que la encuesta ha marcado como la opción más deseada la clásica (B). Os adelantamos unas imágenes de cómo quedaría la opción de cabeza de dragón redonda en marrón (D):

We went ahead with the project. We still need to refine the input part until that no adjustment is necessary. We know that the poll has been marked as the most desirable the classic option (B). I anticipate some images of how the option would head round brown dragon (D):

PLAYMOBIL REVIEW - FJORD HORSES

Se trata de una de esas piezas para las que no habrá nunca suficientes palabras de agradecimiento.  Me encantan los caballos de Playmobil, todos ellos, desde su primer diseño minimalista a los últimos modelos más realistas. Me parecen una gran aportación que mejora las figuras significativamente. El esfuerzo había sido ya grande con la segunda generación que pudimos disfrutar en la primera década del siglo XXI. La última generación incorpora un esfuerzo por ampliar la variedad con diferentes razas. Los amamos.

Una referencia sobre la que he no he visto mucha actividad es el caballo Fjord (PLAYMOBIL 5517). Originario de Noruega, es el caballo vikingo por excelencia. Y lo ha creado Playmobil. ¿Se puede pedir más?

Nosotros compramos una primera tirada en un mercadillo, que utilizamos como caballos salvajes de la prehistoria, lo más parecido al caballo Przewalski.

El caballo Fjord o de los fiordos es un de las razas más antiguas y puras que se conocen. Corre por la Europa del norte desde hace miles de años y es posiblemente el caballo que más vikingos ha visto, ya que lo utilizaron asiduamente como montura de guerra en toda Escandinavia, además de ser muy apreciado para las tareas del campo. Es seguramente también el padre del caballo islandés.

Sus dos atributos principales son: su pequeño tamaño respecto a otras razas (entre 1,3 y 1,5 metros, su complexión fuerte y su pelaje entre gris y crema. Su característica raya de pelo negro que lo recorre desde la cabeza a la cola y una crin multicolor de negros, blancos y grises lo hacen único.

Aquí tenéis un primer plano de la película Vikingos de 1958 con Kirk Douglas montado en uno de ellos.

Repetimos está ilustración de Angus Mcbride, que ya incluimos en una entrada pasada  de recomendaciones sobre el tema vikingo y que lo muestra ayudando a las tareas de transporte de troncos.

Otra está estupenda lámina, también de Angus Mcbride, con un enfrentamiento entre guerreros francos y vikingos. Dos vikingos se adentran en el continente a lomos de sus caballos para guerrear.

Nosotros hemos intentado evocarla en esta instantánea que os presentamos, No es absolutamente fiel pero hemos intentado captar la esencia.

This is one of those pieces for which there will never be enough words of thanks to Playmobil. I love Playmobil horses, all of them, from the first minimalist design to the last ones, more realistic models. I think that they contribute significantly to improve the figures. The effort was already big with the second generation that we enjoyed in the first decade of the century. The latest generation incorporates an effort to expand the variety with different races. We love them.

A reference on which I have not seen much activity is the Fjord horse (PLAYMOBIL 5517). Originating in Norway, is the Viking horse par excellence. And it has created Playmobil. Can you ask for more?

We bought some pieces at a flea market, which we used as wild horses of prehistory, the closest thing the Przewalski horse.

The Fjord horse is one of the oldest and purebreds known. Run for Northern Europe for thousands of years and is possibly the most Vikings horse has seen since used it as a mount war assiduously throughout Scandinavia, besides being much appreciated for farm work. It is possibly also the father of the Icelandic horse.

Its two main attributes are its small size compared to other races (between 1.3 and 1.5 meters, his ruddy complexion and his fur between gray and cream. Its characteristic stripe black hair walking from head to tail makes them uniques. They have a multicolored mane of black, white and gray.

PLAYMOBIL CUSTOM – MORE SAXONS

Respecto a los sajones dos novedades: El primer grupo en gris y plata está diseñado y montado al 100% por mi hijo pequeño. ¡Me encantan! Para mí lo mejor es que ha sacado su propio estilo. Puede que no sean del todo rigurosos pero estarán en primera línea de batalla.

El resto están hechos partiendo de la sugerencia de Diego de incluir tonos rojos para hacer estas tropas. Hemos aprovechado para ampliar nuestra infantería y arqueros.

Regarding the Saxons two developments: The first group in gray and silver is designed and assembled 100% by my youngest son. I love them! For me the best is that he has created his own style. They may not entirely accurate but they will be on frontlines.

The rest Saxons figures are made based on the suggestion by Diego to include red tones to these troops. We used to expand our infantry and archers.

PLAYMOBIL CUSTOM – MORE NORMANS

Una mini entrada de normandos, hemos ampliado nuestras tropas de a pie. Gracias a las creaciones de Neperiano hemos incorporado también estos normandos en plata y negro. El resto son variaciones en tonos azules.

New Normans post, we have expanded our foot troops. Thanks to the creations of Neperiano we have incorporated these Normans in silver and black. The rest are variations in blue tones.

3D PRINTABLE PLAYMOBIL VIKING SHIP PARTS (II)

Ya está hecha la primera prueba de impresión, la recogemos esta tarde y este fin de semana vamos a ver cómo queda ya puesta en el barco. ¡Nos encanta! Tiene mucho trabajo detrás y agradecemos el esfuerzo que están haciendo nuestros impresores y diseñadores con nosotros. Gracias Jose!

Os ponemos 4 posibilidades y una encuesta para ir rellenando opciones. Para la parte de atrás pensamos en hacer la redonda pero un poco más pequeña.

En cuanto la hayamos probado ponemos otra entrada con fotos.

It's already made the first test print, we collect it this afternoon and this weekend we will see how it looks and placing on the ship. We love it! It has a lot of work behind and we appreciate the effort they are making our printers / designers with us. Thanks Jose!
