PLAYMOBIL DIORAMA XVII CENTURY GALLEY SLAVES

We continue in the 17th Century, but changing the scenery a bit. On this occasion we have the galley slaves (who were not always criminals) who, on the way to their duty of rowing, pass in front of a convent. As we have commented in other posts, we are not only interested in purely military scenes, we also like to recreate the atmosphere and the characters that star in the era that we recreate.

Seguimos en el siglo XVII, pero cambiando un poco de escenario. En esta ocasión tenemos a unos galeotes (que no siempre eran delincuentes) que camino de su condena pasan por delante de un convento. Como hemos comentado en otras entradas, no solo nos interesan las escenas puramente militares, nos gusta también recrear el ambiente y los personajes que protagonizaron la época que representamos. 

We could have recreated the Quixotic scene, but we have left it for another time. The galley, we don't even dream about it...

Podríamos haber recreado la escena quijotesca, pero la hemos dejado para otra ocasión. La galera, ni la soñamos…

And again, it is the extensive catalog of Playmobil that helps us. Regarding the monks, we can only thank the reissue of many pieces that make our work easy and make us look for new uses for pieces that we already had for scrapping. As for the rest, the pieces that we had leftover from the pirates have been a great help this time.

Y de nuevo, es el extenso catalogo de Playmobil el que nos ayuda. Respecto a los religiosos, no podemos más que agradecer la reedición de muchas piezas que hacen fácil nuestro trabajo y nos hacen buscar nuevos usos a piezas que ya teníamos para desguace. En cuanto al resto, las piezas que nos sobraban de los piratas han sido de gran ayuda en esta ocasión.

The diorama has no more pretensions than to continue experimenting with buildings and creating spaces. We hope you like it.

PLAYMOBIL DIORAMA XVII CENTURY BREACH WALL

One of the dioramas we wanted to make this summer was a siege. We don't have enough SteckSystem pieces to make the buildings and a two-story wall, so we decided to make a one-piece wall.

Uno de los dioramas que queríamos hacer este verano era un asedio. No tenemos suficiente Steck para hacer los edificios y una muralla de dos alturas, así que decidimos hacer una muralla de una sola pieza.

The main idea is a fight at the foot of the breach wall. Not all sieges had enough artillery, and there were few occasions that the sappers allowed them to place mines underground, which when they exploded, breached the walls.

La idea general es un enfrentamiento a pie de brecha. No todos los asedios contaban con artillería suficiente, y no eran pocas las ocasiones que los zapadores tenían que colocar minas bajo tierra, que al explosionar, abrían brecha en las murallas.

Here are our two armies (blue and red) struggling to gain control of the breach. An attempt has been made to give the scene some mobility, within the limitations of the figures.

Aquí están nuestros dos ejércitos (azul y rojo) luchando por hacerse con el control de la brecha. Se ha intentado darle cierta movilidad a la escena, dentro de las limitaciones que tienen las figuras.

You can see some interesting details of the pieces that we have been making and will continue to appear in future entries.

Se pueden ver algunos detalles interesantes de las piezas que hemos estado haciendo y que seguirán saliendo en próximas entradas.

PLAYMOBIL CUSTOM XVII CENTURY FIGURES (II)

We take advantage of this post to celebrate our post number 400 and introduce an experiment we have carried out with putty. The raised horse is one of those pieces that all fans would like to have. We are not less and we wanted to have some. To make it, we opted for the option that we thought was cheaper and that consists of making a transformation with putty. Here is the result for you to judge.

Aprovechamos esta entrada para celebrar nuestra entrada Nº 400 y presentar un experimento que hemos realizado con masilla. El caballo con las patas levantadas es una de esas piezas que todos los aficionados querríamos tener. Nosotros no somos menos y queríamos tener alguno. Para ello, optamos por la opción que pensamos que era más barata y que consiste en hacer una transformación con masilla. Aquí tenéis el resultado para que juzguéis.

Encouraged with the horse, we decided to expand our Seventeenth Century infantry and cavalry with two small groups. We wanted to make figures that incorporate armor and helmets, compatible for both the English Civil War and the 30 Years War.

Como estábamos animados con el caballo, decidimos ampliar un poco nuestra infantería y caballería del siglo XVII, con dos pequeños grupos. Queríamos hacer figuras que incorporasen armaduras y borgoñotas, compatibles tanto para la Guerra Civil Inglesa como para la Guerra de los 30 años.

We also wanted to go back over the black armor that was so widely used in the period and do some testing with the pieces we had created. A piece that will allow us to obtain replicate in mold, although the master itself, is the "arzones" (pistols holsters for the saddle). Another challenge that will remain for the future.

También queríamos volver sobre las armaduras negras que tanto se usaron en el periodo y hacer alguna prueba con las piezas que habíamos creado. Una pieza que nos habría gustado conseguir replicar en molde, aunque sí hicimos el master, son los arzones (pistoleras para la silla de montar). Otro reto que quedará para el futuro.
