PLAYMOBIL DIORAMA ODYSSEY - GREEK MYTHOLOGY

During the summer we made two different dioramas as a tribute to the world of Greek Mythology. They are tremendously complicated diroamas because they have several overlapping worlds. We share them, although I think they are very improvable. They contain the compendium of everything we have been presenting on this subject so far.

En el verano hicimos dos montajes diferentes como homenaje al mundo de la mitología griega. Son montajes tremendamente complicados porque tienen varios mundos superpuestos. Los compartimos, aunque creo que son muy mejorables. Contienen el compendio de todo lo que hemos ido presentando sobre este tema hasta ahora.

We started this series with a small post, with a few gods and I think we have achieved all the objectives that we had proposed. In our opinion, and taking into account the references that are to come, I believe that Playmobil could have made a greater effort with this issue. An accurated sail, decent shields, a System-X compatible architecture structure…. They would have given wings to the fans and I don't think they would have meant a significant additional cost.  They can do it and they know how to do when they want. I think they have missed the opportunity to make so, simply better than expected.

Empezamos con una pequeña entrada, con unos pocos dioses y creo que hemos alcanzado todos los objetivos que nos habíamos propuesto. En nuestra opinión, y teniendo en cuenta las referencias que están por venir, creo que Playmobil podría haber hecho un esfuerzo mayor con este tema. Una vela de barco en condiciones, unos escudos decentes, un frontón System-X…. Habrían dado alas a los aficionados y no creo que hubieran supuesto un coste adicional significativo. Lo pueden hacer y lo saben hacer cuando quieren. Pienso que se ha perdido la oportunidad de hacerlo, simplemente mejor de lo esperado.

PLAYMOBIL DIORAMA ODYSSEY (XI) ITHACA

Our last post on the Odyssey subject is centered on the return to Ithaca of Ulysses. Finally, after 10 years of war in Troy, 7 years held by Calypso and 3 years of vicissitudes, Ulysses arrives at his home. What he finds does not like much. His estate has been stolen and his wife has to choose a husband among their looters. Dressed as a beggar enters his house. It will not take long to put an end to the situation and recover his throne and the life he gave up 20 years ago.

Nuestra última entrada sobre la Odisea está centrada en el regreso a Ítaca de Ulises. Por fin, después de 10 años de guerra en Troya, 7 años retenido por Calipso y 3 años de vicisitudes, Ulises llega a su casa. Lo que encuentra no le gusta mucho. Su hacienda ha sido saqueada y su mujer tiene que elegir marido entre sus saqueadores. Ataviado como un mendigo entra en su casa. No tardará en poner fin a la situación y recuperar su trono y la vida a la que renunció 20 años atrás.

Here ends our cycle on the Odyssey, after eleven posts, with dioramas that try again to recreate impossible, unthinkable scenarios that we would not have imagined trying some years ago. Teaching: nothing is impossible. We have had the luck of face, the pieces, the moment, the inspiration. The result is very improvable, but for us, the important thing is not the result, it is to have enjoyed it. If there are others who enjoy it, better than better.

Aquí termina nuestro ciclo sobre la Odisea, tras once entradas, con un diorama que intenta de nuevo recrear escenarios imposibles, impensables, que ni hubiéramos imaginado intentar hace años. La enseñanza: nada es imposible. Nosotros hemos tenido la suerte de cara, las piezas, el momento, la inspiración. El resultado es muy mejorable, pero para nosotros lo importante no es el resultado, es haberlo disfrutado. Si además hay otros que lo disfrutan, mejor que mejor.

PLAYMOBIL DIORAMA ODYSSEY (X) CALYPSO

After the wreck of his ship and the loss of his crew. Ulysses remains adrift until he reaches the island of Ogigia, where Calypso, daughter of the Titan Atlas lives. There Ulysses will be entertained with delicacies and drink. Calypso will offer Ulysses to be her husband, achieve immortality and eternal youth. But for Ulysses, his desire to see his wife Penelope is stronger. However, Calypso will not allow Ulysses to return and will retain him for seven years. Athena will have to intercede for him to be allowed to continue his journey back.

Tras el naufragio de su barco y la pérdida de su tripulación. Ulises permanece a la deriva hasta que llega a la isla de Ogigia, donde vive Calipso, hija del Titán Atlas. Allí Ulises será agasajado con manjares y bebida. Calipso le ofrecerá a Ulises ser su esposo, alcanzar la inmortalidad y la juventud eterna. Pero para Ulises, es más fuerte su deseo de volver a ver a su esposa Penélope. No obstante, Calipso no permitirá a Ulises regresar y lo retendrá por siete años. Tendrá que ser Atenea la que interceda por él para que se le permita proseguir su viaje de vuelta.

We are here at the end of the story that Ulysses himself tells King Alcinous because after leaving the island of Calypso, he is shipwrecked and arrives at the beginning of the story.

Nos encontramos aquí en el final del relato que el propio Ulises narra al rey Alcinoo, pues después de abandonar la isla de Calipso, naufraga y llega a la isla de los Feacios.

These last dioramas do not have a great contribution in new pieces, but they have given us great moments of fun and the opportunity to make daring combinations, such as this temple that we find very interesting.

Estos últimos dioramas no tienen un gran aporte en piezas, pero nos han regalado grandes momentos de diversión y la oportunidad de hacer combinaciones atrevidas, como este templo que nos resulta muy interesante.
