PLAYMOBIL DIORAMA – THE KRAKEN

El “KRAKEN”, en la mitología nórdica se hace referencia a la existencia de esta criatura marina, que suele ser descrita como un monstruo gigante con forma de pulpo o calamar, que anda rondando los mares en busca de barcos a los que atacar.  No es en la única cultura en la que se habla de este tipo de seres y todo parece indicar que se trata de una exageración que toma la forma de leyenda mitológica a partir de los avistamientos reales de calamares gigantes del género Architeuthis, y que por su tamaño (entre 10 y 18 metros), dieron lugar a este tipo de historias.

A nosotros nos viene estupendamente para este pequeño diorama, que no tiene más objetivo que el entretenimiento. Hemos utilizado el pulpo gigante de la referencia 4291 de Playmobil y uno de nuestros barcos personalizados.

Nos gusta cómo ha quedado y es otra variante más para nuestras aventuras. ¿Qué os parece?.

The "KRAKEN".  In Norsemen mythology it refered to the existence of a marine creature, which is usually described as a giant monster like an octopus or squid.  It is rounding the seas in search of ships to attack. This type of monster existed in many cultures and everything seems to indicate that it was an exaggeration that takes the form of mythological legend from the real sightings of giant squids (of the genus Architeuthis), and because of  its Size (between 10 and 18 meters), let rise to this type of stories.

Also it lets us to make a great little diorama, which it has no more purpose than our entertainment. We used the giant octopus (4291) and one of our custom Viking ships.

We like the effect and it is another face of our adventures. What do you think? 

REVIEW – HISTORY DUDES (VIKINGS)

Recomendar un libro es siempre una tarea difícil. En este caso se trata de un libro infantil “Colegas de otro tiempo – los vikingos” (2008).  Creo que también hará las delicias de los adultos apasionados del tema. Es un libro barato de menos de 5 euros, encuadernado en tapa dura, y da un repaso divertido y ameno sobre muchas de las facetas de la vida de los vikingos. Su autora es LAURA BULLER y su ilustrador es RICH CANDO. Os dejamos algunas imágenes para que podáis ver si el contenido os interesa. 

También existe la versión del antiguo Egipto. Es una forma divertida de acercarse a la historia. A mi hijo le encantó. Esperamos que os guste.

To recommend a book is always a difficult task. In this case it is a children's book "History dudes - Vikings" (2008). I think it will also delight the passionate adults of the theme. It is a cheap book of less than 5 dollars, bound in hardcover, and gives a fun and enjoyable overview on many facets of the life of the Vikings. Her author is LAURA BULLER and his illustrator is RICH CANDO. We leave some images so you can appreciate if the content interests you. There is also a version of ancient Egypt. It's a fun way to get closer to History. My son loved it. We hope you like it.

PLAYMOBIL CUSTOM – SARACENS (V)

Un experimento con las cabezas de los neandertales, piezas de los piratas y un rey mago.  A nosotros nos gusta, les da un aire rudo a estos dos personajes, que encajarán bien tanto entre nuestras tropas árabes como de civiles.

Seguimos con más experimentos. En este caso, algunas variaciones con la figura del rey mago negro de la referencia 4886 de Playmobil. Algunas piezas de los egipcios para darles un aspecto diferente y heterogéneo dentro de un mismo patrón. ¿Qué os parecen?

A new experiment with the head of the Neanderthal figure and some pieces of pirates and Christmas series. We love it, the head gives a fierce air to these two muslim figures, they will fit well both as Saracen troops or civilians.

We continue with more experiments. In this case, some variations with one of  the Three Wise Kings of the reference 4886. We use also some pieces of the Egyptians to get a different and heterogeneous look using a same pattern. What do you think?

PLAYMOBIL DIORAMA – MEDIEVAL HUNTING PARTY

Si te gusta el tema medieval y Playmobil tienes que tener veneración por la serie medieval de los 90 de Playmobil. Poco a poco, hemos ido encontrando piezas que llevábamos buscando  algún tiempo. Unas veces gracias a Playmobil que ha reeditado alguna referencia, y otras, gracias a un poco de suerte en nuestras compras. Algunas piezas se nos siguen resistiendo, no porque no aparezcan, más bien por el precio con el que aparecen…

Nos gustaría que el tema civil estuviera más presente en nuestras aventuras, no todo va a ser guerra y conquista. Nuestras figuras también necesitan desconectar de su actividad guerrera y disfrutar de momentos de ocio y esparcimiento. Bueno, fuera de bromas, muchas de las imágenes que vemos y nos inspiran están enmarcadas dentro de escenas de la vida cotidiana. Y la caza era cotidiana en la vida del hombre medieval.

La cacería nos parece un tema histórico genial para Playmobil, pero ya estamos chocando con el escollo de lo políticamente correcto. Hoy en día, muchos papás pondrían el grito en el cielo al contemplar una caja de juguetes que expusiera los excesos cinegéticos de unos muñecos que podrían traumatizar a sus hijos. Cosa que ya debió pasar con casi todos nosotros (aunque no nos dimos cuenta). Andamos por ahí matando a diestro y siniestro leones y gacelas sin piedad… escopeta en mano, por culpa de haber tenido algún cazador de juguete. Ellos se lo pierden y nosotros también, que seguramente no veamos nunca el 3628, el 3629 o el 3632 reeditados.

Perdón, ahora sí que entro en materia. Nos faltaban algunas cosillas que hemos ido consiguiendo en el DS, algunas las habéis visto ya, y el resto os la presentamos a continuación. Hemos tirado de muchos elementos de la serie del camping y traemos como novedad un ciervo cazado. Nos hemos atrevido, de manera extraordinaria, a calentar la pieza (no para comerla) y mover sus patas. Nos encanta, ha sido amor a primera vista, parece que ha salido así de la fábrica.

Como último detalle, hemos tomado muy buenas ideas de libros y películas, pero nos han servido de gran ayuda dos sets de soldaditos de juguete de escala 1/72. Uno de Valdemar “Medieval hunting party” y otro de Strelets  “Norman army camp”. Cualquier mérito está en ellos. If you like the medieval theme and Playmobil you have to venerate the medieval 90's series of Playmobil. Little by little, we have been finding pieces that we had been looking for some time. Sometimes thanks to Playmobil who has reissued some reference, and others thanks to a bit of luck in our purchases. Some pieces continue to resist us, not because they do not appear, rather because of the price with which they appear ...

We would like the civil theme to be more present in our adventures, not everything is going to be war and conquest. Our figures also need to disconnect from their warrior activity and enjoy moments of leisure and recreation. Well, no jokes, many of the images we see and inspire are framed within scenes of everyday life. And hunting was daily in the life of medieval man.

Hunt seems to us a great historical theme for Playmobil, but we are already topping with the stumbling block of the politically correct things. Today, many parents would regret to buy a toy box that exposes the hunting excesses of figures that could traumatize their children. Which must have happened with almost all of us (although we did not realize it). We walk all the time hunting lions and gazelles mercilessly ... shotgun in hand, because of our parents bought some toy hunters. They miss it and we also, that surely we will never see 3628, 3629 or 3632 reissued.

Excuse me, now I'm getting into stuff. We were waiting for some things that we have been getting at the DS, some you have already seen, and the rest we introduce to you now. We have used many elements of the camping series and we bring, as a novelty, a hunted deer. We have dared, in an extraordinary way, to warm the piece (not to eat it) and to move its paws. We love it, it has been love at first sight, it seems like it has come out directly of the factory.

As a last detail, we have taken very good ideas of books and films, but we have been finding great help in two sets of 1/72 scale toy soldiers. One is Valdemar's "Medieval hunting party" and another one is Strelets "Norman army camp". Any merit is in them. We leave the links so you can see the beautiful things that they are done nowadays.

Aquí tenéis una nueva entrada con nuevas figuras de Sarracenos. Ahora le toca el turno al azul oscuro. Tres figuras solo, pero que nos parece que quedan muy bien. ¿Y a vosotros?
