LOS SAJONES - VIKINGOS, SAJONES Y NORMANDOS (I) / THE SAXONS - VIKINGS, SAXONS AND NORMANS (I)

Ya se sabe que el comienzo del año es siempre el momento propicio para hacer recopilación de buenos propósitos. Nosotros arrastramos muchos proyectos del pasado y querríamos tener tiempo para todos ellos. Ya llevamos algún tiempo pensando en un proyecto para nuestros vikingos de Playmobil sobre la batalla de Hastings: el final de la era vikinga y la Inglaterra sajona. Queremos hacer una muestra de los tres ejércitos enfrentados por el control de Inglaterra en las batallas de Stamford Bridge y Hastings. Cuando hemos buscado algo de información al respecto hemos llegado a la conclusión de que la era vikinga finalizó principalmente porque su mayor enemigo, el cristianismo, se había consolidado en toda Europa.  Una Europa que estaba habitada por descendientes de invasores germánicos o nórdicos que habían perdido tal condición al convertirse. Estos bárbaros (extranjeros)  convertidos eran los que, una vez transformados en cristianos y mezclados con los habitantes originales, plantaban cara a los vikingos para defender sus tierras.

Empezamos la serie de entradas con nuestro rey sajón rodeado de su séquito de monjes y nobles. Las figuras religiosas de Playmobil no son fáciles de conseguir y hemos ido recopilando piezas hasta que hemos podido tener un pequeño crisol de religiosos y monjes de la edad media. Desde los más humildes hasta los más poderosos. Para algunos de ellos hemos recurrido al molde de los cuellos de capucha en resina que hicimos hace un par de años.

Saben que tanto normandos como vikingos están pensando en atacar sus tierras… y están discutiendo como hacerles frente.

Everyone knows that the beginning of the year is always the right time for collection of good intentions. We dragged many projects in the past and would like to have time for them all. We have been thinking for some time on a project for our Playmobil Vikings on the Battle of Hastings: the end of the Viking Age and the Saxon England. We want to make an example of the three opposing armies for control of England in the battles of Stamford Bridge and Hastings. When we searched for some information about it we have reached the conclusion that the Viking era ended mainly because his greatest enemy, Christianity was consolidated throughout Europe. A Europe that was inhabited by descendants of Germanic or Nordic invaders who had lost that status to become. These barbarians (foreigners) were converted, once transformed into Christians and mixed with the original inhabitants, they face planted to defend to the Vikings their land .

We started the series of entries on our Saxon king surrounded by his entourage of monks and nobles. The Playmobil religious figures are not readily available and we have been collecting pieces until we could have a little pot of religious and monks of the Middle Ages. From the most humble to the most powerful. For some of them we have resorted to mold the resin necks that we made a couple of years ago.

They know that both Normans and Vikings are thinking about attacking their land ... and they are discussing how to fight.

PERSONALIZACIONES DE DICIEMBRE / CUSTOMIZED PLAYMOBIL FIGURES OF DECEMBER (I)

Seguimos añadiendo figuras nuevas a nuestra colección de figuras Playmobil personalizadas. No solemos comprar muchos sobres de figuras porque nos parecen caros y difíciles de conseguir. Habíamos tenido suerte con estos caballeros de la serie 8 y nos pudimos hacer con unos torsos a buen precio. En un primer momento habíamos pensado haber aprovechado los brazos y hacer algunos guerreros negros con cascos y accesorios de estilo oriental. Pero no nos acababan de convencer. Estas figuras con tanto “oro” llaman mucho la atención pero son poco reales y difíciles de combinar. Otra opción era potenciar el negro, pero no teníamos piezas suficientes. Al final nos decidimos por intentar que el verde fuera el color principal. No creo que hagamos muchos más. Como ya hemos comentado en otras entradas, Playmobil ha abusado en exceso del león en la heráldica de sus caballeros y nos cansa un poco. Este pequeño grupo será una reducida hermandad de caballeros encomendada a la custodia de alguna reliquia. Aquí los tenéis en el salón principal de su fortaleza.

We keep adding new knights to our collection of customized Playmobil figures. We do not usually buy many “Playmobil figures” because they seem expensive and  very difficult to obtain. We had been lucky with these knight of the Series 8 and also we could find some good price torsos. At first we thought had used arms and make some black warriors with helmets and accessories of oriental style. But we did not fully convince. These figures full of "gold" draw little attention but are unrealistic and difficult to combine. Another option was to enhance the black, but we did not have enough parts. At the end we decided to try green as the main color. I do not think we make many more. As mentioned in other posts, Playmobil has abused excessively in the heraldic of the lion of his knights and we tired a little. This small group is a small brotherhood of men entrusted to the custody of a relic. Here you are in the main hall of their fortress.

PLAYMOBIL BRAVE

El otro día vimos de nuevo la película Brave de Disney. Nos pareció entretenida para el público infantil. Ya os habíamos presentado algunos highlanders en una entrada anterior, pero a mi hijo le apetecía hacer una escena del salón con oso disecado incluido. Teníamos un par de kilts más, así que aumentamos el número de comensales. Aquí os dejamos una instantánea de la fiesta:

Aunque estamos estudiando con detalle las piezas, hemos hecho unas estanterías usando las nuevas piezas de los Super 4. Otra vez, Playmobil ha vuelto a usar piezas que no tienen encaje (al menos inicialmente) en otros sistemas de construcción. Pero quedan muy chulas.

¡Cómo nos habría gustado poder hacer una personalización de Mérida con esa melena pelirroja!

The other day we see again Brave, the Disney Movie. We found it great for young audiences. I had already submitted some Highlanders in a previous post, but my son wanted to do a scene in the castle room with stuffed bear included. We had a couple of kilts more, so we increased the number of guests. Here you have a snapshot of the party.

Although we are studying in detail the parts, we have made some shelves using the new parts of the Super 4. Again, Playmobil has reused parts that do not have joint (at least initially) in other building systems. But they are very cool.

How we would have liked to have been able to make a customization of Merida with that red hair! 

PLAYMOBIL SUPER 4 (II)

Ya habíamos hablado en una entrada anterior al respecto. Cada día que pasa se confirma más que estamos ante una edad de oro de la producción de piezas por parte de Playmobil. Si queréis leer opiniones contrarias en la línea de la traición al espíritu original y otros argumentos por el estilo… no tenéis más que pasaros por la página de Facebook de Playmobil España y leer esos comentarios poniendo a caldo a la marca con la salida de los SUPER 4.  Hay que reconocer que, con mayor o menor acierto, Playmobil está sacando infinidad de piezas nuevas. Es cierto que sigue habiendo mucho “refrito”, pero se compensa con las novedades que van entrando. Nunca hubo tanto y tan fácil de conseguir… y aun así hay quejas.

El esfuerzo de la marca tiene una explicación clara y es la necesidad de ganar la partida a su más directo competidor: LEGO. En mi opinión, la partida la está ganando LEGO, por el momento. Por eso creo que ha sido un acierto el lanzamiento de los Super 4. Lo primero que hay que hacer es abandonar los prejuicios y mirarlos con ojos de un niño de entre 4 y 12 años. El otro día visitando la web con mi hijo pequeño nos quedamos mirando un rato la referencia 6694. Al final mi hijo me dijo que estaba bastante bien, que incluso era un firme candidato para los reyes de este año. Es posible que así lo vean el resto de los niños de su edad, entonces Playmobil ha acertado. El 99,9% de los padres NO son coleccionistas de Playmobil y no tendrán ningún problema con lo que piden sus hijos.

Otra prueba importante es la Playmobil FUNSTORE de Madrid. La tienda nos la encontramos arrasada. No hay problema, esperaremos a que se calmen las aguas y los bolsillos. Como los Super 4 están tan poco valorados por los coleccionistas no tuvimos problema, había stock disponible y pudimos comprar las referencias 6698 y 6694, con las que mi hijo de 8 años quedo absolutamente satisfecho. Ahora que las hemos comprado me parece que están muy bien, incluso creo que dos colosos mejor que uno. El resto de los niños que estaban en la tienda no parecían tener ningún problema tampoco. ¿Están equivocados?

Pero vamos con las nuevas figuras. Las llevamos viendo en la web desde hace meses. Y van cayendo en nuestras manos poco a poco. Nunca ha habido tanta variedad de caras, barbas, brazos, pelos, colores… Incluso el “sacrilegio” de las caras pintadas está bastante conseguido y permite crear personajes únicos. Algunas son de difícil encaje pero tiempo al tiempo…

Nosotros hemos empezado a hacer experimentos y nos gusta el resultado, que esperamos mejorar con el tiempo. Hemos comenzado con nuestra tropa de guerreros lobos a los que hemos dado una torre donde hacerse fuertes. Aún nos falta por probar alguno de los torsos, pero creo que son firmes candidatos a reivindicar su propio territorio.

Aquí están firmando las condiciones para una alianza secreta para acabar con sus adversarios los caballeros del león azul. ¡Nos encanta como nos ha quedado el malo con el pelo gris!

Creemos que últimamente Playmobil está abusado del logotipo del león en los caballeros, pero aun así  me parecen mucho mejores que esa heráldica tan moderna del halcón o del lobo de las últimas referencias. Además recuperan el tono de azul de una referencia mítica (3899). Ya hemos cambiado al rey, por uno más joven. No obstante, aún son pocos…

Por último comentar el gran acierto de lanzar una revista para los más pequeños.

Lo que parecía inicialmente un fiasco se ha convertido en una oportunidad y una nueva fuente de piezas de calidad. ¡A disfrutar!

We had talked about in an earlier entry. Every day that passes more it is confirmed that this is a golden age of the production of parts by Playmobil. If you want to read opposing views in the line of betrayal to the original spirit and other arguments like that ... you only have to pass for the Facebook page of Playmobil Spain and read those comments taking a dig at the brand with the output of the SUPER 4 range. We must admit that, with varying success, Playmobil is producing plenty of new parts. It is true that there is still much "rehash" but is offset by the upcoming production. There was never much and so easy to get ... and still people complain about it.

The effort of the brand has a clear explanation and it is the need to win the game to its closest competitor: LEGO. In my opinion, LEGO is winning the game, for the moment. So I think that has been a success launching the Super 4 range. The first thing to do is to abandon prejudices and look at them through the eyes of a child between 4 and 12 years. The other day visiting the web we spent some time looking at a reference 6694. Finally, my youngest son said it was pretty good, and it would be a strong candidate for a Christmas desire this year. I might as well other children of their age will see the same thing, then Playmobil has been successful. 99.9% of parents are not collectors of Playmobil and they have not any problem with the desires of their children.

Another important test is the Playmobil FUNSTORE of Madrid. We arrived and the store was devastated. No problem, we can wait until the pockets will be empty. The Super 4 range is so little valued by collectors and we were able to buy stock available: references 6698 and 6694. My 8 year old son stayed absolutely satisfied. Now that we bought it I think they are great. I think better two colossus than one. The rest of the children who were in the store seemed to have no problem either. Are they wrong?

Let´s go with the new figures. We have been watching on the web in for months. And they arrived to our hands slowly. There has never been such a variety of faces, beards, arms, hairs, colors ... Even the "sacrilege" of the painted faces are quite accomplished and allows you to create unique characters. Some are difficult to fit but time to time ...

We have begun to experiment and we love the results, we hope to improve it with some more time. We have started with our troop of wolf warriors to which we have given them a tower where they live. We still have to prove some of the new torsos, but I think they are candidates to claim their own territory.

Here they are signing the conditions for a secret alliance to fight with its adversaries the blue lion Knights. We love how we have been customized the bad one with gray hair and beard!

We believe that ultimately Playmobil is abused about the lion logos, but they still look much better than that as modern hawk or wolf of the latest heraldry of the knights range. Besides recovering the shade of blue of a mythical reference (3899). We have changed the king, for a younger one. However, they are still few knights...

What initially seemed a flop has become an opportunity and a new source of quality parts. Enjoy it!
