MERCADILLO DE SEPTIEMBRE ESPECIAL / SPECIAL SEPTEMBER FLEA MARKET

Ayer y hoy se celebraba un mercadillo especial Playmobil en Madrid. Fuimos a primera hora esperando encontrar algún vendedor nuevo o algo digno de mención, pero nada de eso apareció. La verdad es que era un mini mercadillo. Seguramente ha sido un éxito, más por el sitio que por la oferta. De todas formas algo picamos: algunos caballos, los cisnes y unas figurillas para desmontar…

Yesterday and today held a special Playmobil flea market in Madrid. We went early hoping to find a new vendor or something noteworthy, but nothing appeared. The truth is it was a mini flea market. Perhaps it was a success, more to the place than supplies. Anyway we buy something: horses, swans and some figurines to disassemble...

PLAYMOBIL ROUGH RIDER

El primer regimiento de caballería voluntaria de Estados Unidos participó en la llamada “Guerra de Cuba”. Fueron famosos por el asalto a la colina de San Juan. Comandado por Theodore Roosevelt fue el único regimiento de voluntarios que entró en combate contra los españoles en 1898. Aquí está uno de sus hombres, al pie de la colina que les hizo famosos.

ROUGH RIDERS

The 1st United States Volunteer Cavalry participated in the "War of Cuba". They were famous for the assault on San Juan Hill. Led by Theodore Roosevelt and was the only regiment of volunteers who entered into combat against the Spanish in 1898. Here is one of his men, at the bottom of the hill that made them famous.

ARTHUR WELLESLY (DUQUE DE WELLINGTON) PLAYMOBIL

El general que derrotó a Napoleón en Waterloo. Su papel en la expulsión de los franceses de España fue crucial. Vencedor en Arapiles y Vitoria. Aunque en campaña solía llevar una levita azul, aquí le hemos puesto su casaca roja mientras inspecciona el terreno en un paseo matutino.

The general who defeated Napoleon at Waterloo. His role in the expulsion of the French armies of Spain was crucial. Winner at Arapiles and Vitoria. Although he used to wear a blue coat on campaign, here we have put his red coat while he´s inspecting the ground in a morning walk.

¡Qué rabia da cuando tienes una pieza de Playmobil que te gusta y se rompe! Sobre todo si es una de esas piezas que se han dejado de fabricar. A nosotros nos gustan esas piezas del sistema Steck de primera generación. La puerta del castillo Playmobil 3446 es un buen ejemplo. Es una pieza que se suele encontrar fácilmente rota. En España además se suele encontrar el modelo fabricado por Famobil en los años 70 que era de un plástico de calidad muy mala. Un lata. Con otras piezas, como las paredes con puertas, hemos probado a cortar las partes rotas y rellenarla con una masilla gris claro. Nos quedan unos arcos de puerta bastante dignos. 

El otro día, cuando íbamos a realizar esta tarea en un arco mayor, mi hijo comentó que tal vez cupieran unos enganches de puerta modernos y así poder mantener las puertas en el arco. Dicho y hecho. Cortamos a ras los enganches anteriores, pusimos los nuevos enganches con un buen pegote de masilla, media hora de secado y nos ha quedado una puerta preciosa. No se nota la reparación y se puede jugar sin la "responsabilidad" de que se rompa en cualquier momento. Aquí tenéis unas fotos para poder juzgar.

PLAYMOBIL 3446 DOOR REPAIRING

How infuriating is when you have a Playmobil piece you like and breaks! Especially if it's one of those pieces that have been discontinued. We like those first generation´s Steck system parts. The Playmobil 3446 castle gate is a good example. It is a piece that is often found broken easily. In Spain also usually find the model manufactured by Famobil in the 70s which was a very poor quality plastic. It´s a pain. In other parts, like walls with doors, we've tried to cut the broken parts and populate it with a gray putty. We got a pretty decent door arches. The other day when we were going to perform this task in a major arc, my son commented that perhaps it would fit some modern door latches to keep the doors and on the arc. Said and done. We cut above the hooks flush, we put the new hooks with a good glob of putty, we waited half an hour of drying and a lovely door has been made. No repair note and can be played without the "responsibility" of breaking at any time.

EXPLORADOR DE GÓNDOR / GÓNDOR EXPLORER

En la Tierra Media, al oeste de la Tierra de Mordor, se encuentra la región de Ithilien. Antiguamente pertenecía al Reino de Góndor, pero los Espectros del Anillo la invadieron, desolando todo a su paso. Durante la Guerra del Anillo, el senescal de Góndor mandaba pequeños grupos de exploradores para informar sobre la actividad de los orcos en aquellas tierras. Aquí tenemos a un playmobil vestido como uno de ellos, en su puesto de guardia, con la espada y el escudo bien preparados, por si algún enemigo apareciera por los alrededores.

In Middle-earth, in the west of the Land of Mordor, is the area of Ithilien. In the past it belonged to Gondor, but Ringwraiths invaded that land, and they desolated all the fields. During the War of the Ring, the Steward of Gondor sent small groups of explorers to report on the activity of the orcs in these lands. Here is a Playmobil dressed like one, in his watch point, sword and shield well prepared, in case some orc appears around their lands.

Lo segundo esperar que Playmobil haga alguna referencia en el futuro. Nosotros le hemos puesto un poco más de ropa por aquello del frío en las montañas andinas.

ARQUERO DE LOS CABALLEROS DEL LEÓN /

BOWMAN LION KNIGHTS

La serie de caballeros de los primeros castillos SystemX (Playmobil 3268 y 3269) ha quedado un poco devaluada. Por un lado, siempre han salido mal paradas de la comparación con la mítica serie de caballeros de los años 90 y por otro, rápidamente han sido sustituidas del catálogo por otra serie de caballeros totalmente renovada. Particularmente creo que el tiempo les hará justicia. Es cierto que sus construcciones son poco versátiles, fundamentalmente por haber empleado dos colores para la piedra, pero no son pocas las ocasiones que vemos verdaderas maravillas construidas con sus piezas. En cuanto al resto de piezas, la serie no aportó muchas novedades, la verdad. Pero las que aportó son impagables...  ese cuello de cota de malla es maravilloso.

Aquí os presentamos un arquero personalizado de esa serie, que siempre nos gusta ampliar. 

 

The first Playmobil knights series using SystemX (Playmobil 3268 and 3269) have been somewhat devalued. On one hand, they have always gone wrong stops compared to the legendary series of knights of the 90s and on the other, they are rapidly replaced by a series of knights completely renovated. Particularly I think that time will vindicate them. It is true that the buildings are not very versatile, mainly for having used two colors for the stone, but there are some occasions we see marvels built using these parts. Regarding people spare parts, the series did not provide much new, really. But those who contributed are priceless ... the chainmail neck is wonderful.

Here we introduce to you a customized bowman of these series, that we always like to enlarge.

PERSONALIZACIONES CABALLEROS DEL LEON

MERCADILLO DE JULIO, AGOSTO Y SEPTIEMBRE

Nuestra fe en el mercadillo ha ido disminuyendo progresivamente en estos últimos meses. Lo hemos comentado en otras ocasiones. Es cierto que tiene el encanto de rebuscar, pero cada vez hay más artículos nuevos caros y menos tesoros por descubrir. En nuestra opinión, hay más variedad en la red y las matemáticas nos siguen demostrando que mucho más barato. No obstante, una vez más hemos acudido al mercadillo. Todas las fotos, menos la última son de un pedido al DS y algo más que cayó este verano. La última foto es lo que realmente compramos en el mercadillo de Septiembre. Agradecemos a Playmobil que siga reeditando piezas que de otra forma no estaríamos dispuestos a pagar de ninguna manera y que se puedan pedir por separado. Incluso con las limitaciones que tiene, el DS no tiene rival, al menos en España.

FLEA MARKET FOR THE MONTH OF JULY, AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER

Our belief in the flea market has been in decline in the last months. We talked about it in past occasions. It certainly has the charm of digging, but there is growing new expensive products and there is not undiscovered treasures. In our opinion, there is more variety in the net and mathematics continue to prove that internet is much cheaper. However, once again we went to the flea market this month. All photos except the last one are of a DS order and something more that we bought this summer. The last picture is what really bought into the in September flea market. We thank to Playmobil to continue reissuing pieces that otherwise would not be willing to pay in any way and we also thank to them that they can be ordered separately. Even with their limitations, Playmobil Direct Service has no rival, at least in Spain
